07 May 2025 Additional changes to Korean Air Operator Variation Please note that after the publication of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations 1st addendum, revisions have been made to certain provisions of Korean Air’s operator variation (KE-07,09) as detailed below. The revisions will be reflected in the upcoming IATA DGR 2nd Addendum or the IATA DGR 67th (2026). The revised regulations outlined below will be applied in advance. Therefore, shippers and forwarders handling dangerous goods are requested to review the revised regulations and ensure that all documentation and packaging conditions are in full compliance with the updated provisions. If you have any inquiries regarding the declaration and carriage of dangerous goods, please contact your nearest Korean Air Cargo office. ▣ Effective date: 01 MAY 2025 (based on the point of departure) ▣ Full text of Korean Air Operator Variation KE-01 Dangerous goods, including Dangerous Goods in Excepted Quantity and Radioactive Material in Excepted Package, in consolidations will not be accepted for carriage, except for the following shipments : (a) consolidations having one master air waybill with one house air waybill; (b) consolidations having one master air waybill with more than one house air waybill(s) containing the following dangerous goods or following dangerous goods with general cargo. •UN 1845, Carbon dioxide, solid (Dry ice) when used as a refrigerant for non-dangerous goods; •UN 2807, Magnetized material; •ID 8000, Consumer commodities; •UN 1266, Perfumery product; •UN 3481/3091/3552, lithium ion/metal batteries and sodium ion batteries packed with equipment and contained in equipment, Section II (PI 966, 967, 969, 970, 977, 978). For dangerous goods in consolidations, the shipper must enter the House Air Waybill number after the Air Waybill number separated by “/” on the Shipper's Declaration, (see 1.3.3, 8.1.2.4, 8.1.6.3, 9.1.8 and 10.8.1.5). KE-02 Reservations must be made well in advance for any shipment containing dangerous goods as defined in these Regulations (see 1.3.2 and 9.1.2). KE-03 Shipper's Declarations for Dangerous Goods must be completed in English, with copies requested by KE but not less than 2 copies for each shipment. (see 8.1.2.1, 8.1.2.3, 10.8.1.2 and 10.8.1.4). All package and overpack markings required by these Regulations must also be completed in English. KE-04 The shipper of the following batteries must clearly declare that the state of charge not exceeding 30% of their rated capacity on the Shipper's Declaration in the “Additional Handling Information” section. •UN 3480, Lithium ion batteries of PI 965; •UN 3551, Sodium ion batteries of PI 976 KE-05 Radioactive Type B(M), Type C packages and fissile materials packages will not be accepted for carriage. KE-06 Dangerous goods will not be accepted for carriage on Korean Air passenger flight except for the following shipments : •Dangerous goods in excepted quantities; •Radioactive materials, excepted packages; •UN 1845, Carbon dioxide, solid (dry ice); •UN 2807, Magnetized material; •ID 8000, Consumer commodity; •UN 3373, Biological substance, Category B; •UN 3528, Engine, internal combustion,flammable liquid powered / Engine, fuel cell, flammable liquid powered / Machinery, fuel cell, flammable liquid powered and Machinery, internal combustion, flammable liquid powered; •UN 3530, Engine, internal combustion and Machinery, internal combustion; •UN 3166, Vehicle, flammable liquid powered; Vehicle, fuel cell, flammable liquid powered •UN 3481/3091/3552, lithium ion/metal batteries and sodium ion batteries packed with equipment and contained in equipment, Section II (PI 966, 967, 969, 970, 977,978). KE-07 The enhanced packing requirements must be met as follows : (a) Liquid dangerous goods in single packagings are acceptable if : • The packaging is a steel drum (1A1 or 1A2) or composite packaging-plastic receptacle with outer steel drum (6HA1); or • They are overpacked in a strong wooden crate; or • They are overpacked in a wooden frame with pillars to protect at least the top and bottom of the packaging. (b) All kinds of dangerous goods exceeding 50 kg regardless of the Class or Division are acceptable if : • They are packed or overpacked to ensure they can be handled using an equipment such as a forklift. KE-08 self-balancing vehicles or vehicles not equipped with at least one seating position(UN3556/3557/3558 of PI 952) will not be accepted for carriage. (see SP A214) KE-09 Unit load devices or freight containers containing the following dangerous goods will only be accepted by prior arrangement or contract. •Dangerous goods in excepted quantities; •UN 1845, Carbon dioxide, solid (dry ice); •UN 2807, Magnetized material; •ID 8000, Consumer commodity; •UN 3373, Biological substance, Category B; •UN 3481/3091/3552, Lithium ion/metal cells and batteries and sodium ion cells and batteries meeting the provisions of Section II of Packing Instructions 966, 967, 969, 970, 977 and 978) The Shipper/Freight Forwarder must provide a document certifying that the shipment : • was prepared in secure premises and protected against unlawful interference during preparation, storage, and transport, and • that all packages comply with the requirements of the Dangerous Goods Regulations.
